Sargento da reserva da PM de São Paulo, 44 anos, atualmente exercendo o primeiro mandato de deputado federal (antes foi deputado estadual e vereador, no munícipio paulista de Limeira), Otoniel é um dos principais defensores no Congresso da PEC 300, que equipara o piso salarial dos policiais militares à menor remuneração paga pela Polícia Militar do Distrito Federal. Também preside a Frente Parlamentar de Apoio à Reestruturação da Polícia Federal. Sua principal bandeira é a defesa da segurança pública.
Dentre os pré-selecionados pelos jornalistas, Cristovam Buarque (PDT-DF) lidera entre os “Melhores Senadores”. Chico Alencar e Jean Wyllys, ambos do Psol do Rio de Janeiro, disputam voto a voto a liderança da categoria geral “Melhores Deputados”.
A votação pela internet é monitorada pela Associação Nacional dos Peritos Criminais (APCF). O objetivo é assegurar que, mais do que uma grande quantidade de votos, a votação seja feita com absoluta lisura.
Os boletins parciais estão sendo divulgados às 17h das segundas, quartas e sextas-feiras. A última parcial será publicada em 2 de setembro, e os resultados finais serão revelados apenas no evento de premiação, em 26 de setembro, no Unique Palace, em Brasília.
